Beauty abounds in every season on the prairie.  These 122 acres are an environmental treasure carefully recreated to illustrate the delicate balance of grasses, native wildflowers, wetlands, and timber that existed 500 years ago. 

Historic Prophetstown and Prophetstown State Park work together on prairie maintenance and cultivation. 

The DNR, with its specially trained staff and equipment, handles the controlled burns that are necessary for the prairie to continue to flourish.
